Researcher Radu Boț is a renowned mathematician, professor, and dean of the Faculty of Mathematics at the University of Vienna, a position he has held since October 2020. The roots of his excellence lie in the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science at Babeș-Bolyai University (UBB). His undergraduate and master’s studies in Cluj formed the foundation that provided him with the rigor and vision necessary to reach the highest academic peaks in the German-speaking world and beyond. He was recently appointed Editor-in-Chief of the prestigious SIAM Journal on Optimization (effective 2026)—a rare distinction that confirms his status as a leader in the field.
Radu Boț is living proof that the education received at Babeș-Bolyai University in Cluj is a window to the world. Congratulations on your inspiring journey, and also for being a special guest of the UBB-Core Center these past few days, where, in the beautiful Room 118 at FSEGA, you delivered the PLS Training session titled “Where and How We Publish?” to the academic community.
Thank you, and we are delighted that you were a guest of the UBB-Core Center, and that you have been part of our center’s team of international experts for the past three years. An inspiring talk about his academic journey and his vision for the future of research.
